Hanoi [Vietnam], March 7: Singer My Le was a guest on the program 'Sisters Untangling Problems'. There, she shared her experiences on her journey as a mother, revealing the story behind her glamorous stage persona.
At the beginning of the program, MC Phuong Uyen introduced My Le to the first story sent in by a female viewer. She shared that she and her husband both suffer from dwarfism, and their relationship blossomed through mutual understanding and empathy. She always longed to be a mother, while her husband was adamant about not wanting children because he feared the child would inherit the same condition, as three members of his family have the same disorder.
My Le's heartfelt confession
When she became pregnant and underwent prenatal screening, the doctor informed her that the fetus had only a 25% chance of developing normally and a 75% risk of having a genetic syndrome. Given her small stature, childbirth was already fraught with risks. Tragedy struck when the baby only survived for six hours after birth. Before her grief could subside, she desperately wanted to become pregnant again, but her husband was fearful and strongly opposed the idea.
Listening to the story, My Le acknowledged that the desire to become a mother is legitimate and sacred. However, given her special health condition, her husband's worries are understandable. "Many people try everything to have children, so that desire is very commendable. But if a child is born under imperfect conditions, the burden will follow the whole family for life," the 70s-era singer expressed.
According to psychologists, parenting requires not only love, but also competence, health, and the means to ensure a fulfilling life for one's children . Singer My Le also gently suggested that the maternal role is not limited to giving birth to a child. If a woman cannot have children, she can still love and care for adopted children or children of relatives. "Having children is not the only way to fulfill the maternal role," she said.
Also in the program, singer My Le shared her own journey of motherhood at the age of 45. After two cesarean sections, she continued to get pregnant with her third child despite facing the risk of her old surgical scar thinning and premature birth. Thanks to close medical monitoring and emotional support from her family, the 70s-era singer overcame that anxious period. For her, the most important thing is to have thorough preparation and choose the safest option possible.
MC Phuong Uyen also affirmed the role of family in important moments. The loving support of family is the foundation that helps women be strong enough to make choices.
Concluding the program, singer My Le shared: "Each situation is a unique story; there is no single answer for everyone. Most importantly, a woman must understand her own circumstances to make appropriate and wise decisions."
