Seoul [South Korea], September 25: Two North Korean soldiers captured by Ukraine have been transferred to South Korea after months of negotiations, a South Korean lawmaker said on Thursday.
Yoo Yong Won, who met the two men during a visit to Ukraine in 2025 and had since campaigned for their transfer, said they arrived in South Korea several days ago. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had revealed the transfer during his address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. One of the soldiers tried to kill himself "when he realized he was going to be taken prisoner," Zelensky said. (DPA)
