Seoul [South Korea], July 11: Choosing to perform the song 'Because It's You', the 'lookalike' of Quang Dung delighted Dai Nghia and the judges because of his resemblance to the idol.
Episode 10 of "Unexpected Transformations" aired with a competition between Khai Tran (impersonating Son Tung M-TP), Nguyen Thanh (impersonating Quang Dung ), and Tran Mai Huyen (impersonating Luong Bich Huu). In addition to Meritorious Artist Dai Nghia, the judging panel also included singer Lam Hung and artist Ngan Quynh.
One standout performance in the show was "Because It's You" by Nguyen Thanh. On stage, the male contestant transformed into singer Quang Dung, appearing in a dapper suit and delivering a warm, deep voice. His performance delighted the judges.
What did Ngan Quynh and Dai Nghia say about the 'lookalike' of Quang Dung?
Having toured with Quang Dũng for many years, artist Ngân Qu?nh assessed that Nguyễn Thanh had studied his idol very thoroughly. She expressed: "From appearance, physique, the way he holds the microphone to his demeanor, everything is very similar to Quang Dũng. The mid and low notes are very good, only the high notes are slightly off-key, so he needs to pay more attention."
Judge Lam Hung also expressed much admiration for the performance. The male singer said that from the very first line, the contestant made him a little worried because the pitch wasn't really stable, but Nguyen Thanh gradually regained his composure. "Quang Dung's voice is very rich, so it's not easy to imitate. The fact that you did so well is already impressive," Lam Hung commented.
Meanwhile, Meritorious Artist Dai Nghia revealed that he had suggested Nguyen Thanh choose this song from the first round. The male judge said it was a difficult song because it was too familiar to the audience. "Being able to sing this song like Quang Dung is already very commendable. However, today there were still a few off-key and out-of-tune moments, which listeners could easily notice. Compared to the previous round, Quang Dung's warm voice and characteristic vibrato weren't as clearly showcased." At the end of the performance, Nguyen Thanh received 28.25 points.Meanwhile, Khai Tran transformed into Son Tung M-TP, performing the song " Don't Break My Heart. " Artist Ngan Quynh praised Khai Tran's stage presence and his accurate recreation of his idol's style. "The fast-paced parts and the way you pronounce words are quite similar to Son Tung. You overcame the pressure and delivered a performance that pleased all three judges," Lam Hung added.
Meanwhile, Tran Mai Huyen chose to impersonate Luong Bich Huu , performing the song " Yeu lam chi" (Why Love?). Ngan Quynh couldn't hide her delight, commenting: "It's so similar, from appearance to voice. She just lacked a little confidence, so her rhythm was a bit hesitant. If she were more daring, it would be amazing."
Lam Hung also unexpectedly revealed that this song brings back many memories from when he first started his career. This song was played constantly while he was pursuing his girlfriend because she really loved the female singer's voice.
