Washington [US], December 19: On December 18, Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives released dozens more photos seized from the residence of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
According to AP on December 19, the new images are among more than 95,000 photos that the US House Oversight Committee collected after issuing a subpoena demanding the release of documents that Epstein possessed before his death in his New York prison cell in 2019.
The case has long been the focus of conspiracy theories and speculation, particularly surrounding Epstein's relationships with various powerful figures.
This announcement further puts pressure on the Trump administration, with less than 48 hours remaining for the U.S. Department of Justice to comply with the Epstein-Barr Records Transparency Act.
The photos released by the committee show Epstein appearing with many famous figures, including President Trump and former US President Bill Clinton. Other images show Epstein cooking with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, a businessman from the United Arab Emirates, or attending events for billionaires and philanthropists organized by a non-profit organization in 2011.
The House Oversight Committee emphasized that the release of these images does not imply any wrongdoing against the individuals depicted.
In addition, lawmakers also released several images and screenshots containing sensitive content, including an exchange of text messages from an unidentified sender, allegedly discussing the recruitment of young women. The messages mentioned introducing "18-year-old girls" at a specific price, but did not provide the names or identifying information of the individuals involved.
Other images show the feet and body of a woman with handwritten quotes from Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita - a work revolving around sexual obsession with minors - without any explanation.
Additionally, the documents included images of passports, visas, and identity cards from various countries such as Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine , South Africa, and Lithuania, with personal information obscured, along with photographs of Epstein with women or girls whose faces were blurred.
The committee said the published data had been edited to avoid revealing the identities of potential victims.
Congressman Robert Garcia, the Democratic leader on the House Oversight Committee, said the new images "raise even more questions about what the Justice Department holds," and called for an end to the cover-up and the immediate release of the full Epstein dossier.
However, legal experts warn that the US Department of Justice's release of such a large volume of documents in a short period of time could pose risks, ranging from excessive editing to errors, and even the exposure of sensitive personal information, according to The Guardian.
