Hanoi [Vietnam], March 8: Director Le Thanh Son's film ' Heaven-Sent Treasure' has officially surpassed 100 billion VND in revenue, becoming the third Vietnamese film released during the Lunar New Year to join the '100 billion VND film club'.
According to statistics from the independent box office monitoring unit - Box Office Vietnam, the film "Heaven's Gift" has now grossed 100.4 billion VND after more than half a month since its release. With this figure, the film officially becomes the third Vietnamese film to join the "100 billion VND club" during the 2026 Lunar New Year. As of 3:40 PM on March 7th, the film starring Phuong Anh Dao temporarily ranked 5th in daily box office revenue with approximately 685 million VND.
Meanwhile, "Tai" - a project starring Mai Tai Phen, My Tam, etc. - is temporarily leading the box office with over 7.6 billion VND. In second place is "Tho Oi!" directed by Tran Thanh with approximately 4.2 billion VND. The following positions are held by "Cam On Nguoi Da Thuc Cung Toi" (2.5 billion VND), "Cu Nhay Ky Dieu" (1.5 billion VND), and so on. After several weeks of excitement, the Vietnamese box office market is showing signs of cooling down. Films that previously generated strong buzz, such as " Nha Ba Toi Mot Phong" or "Mui Pho," are gradually losing momentum, giving way to international films and newly released projects.
During the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, the film starring Phuong Anh Dao, Tuan Tran, etc., did not create a significant media buzz as audience attention was mainly focused on two projects directed by box office stars: Tran Thanh with "Tho Oi!" and Truong Giang with "Nha Ba Toi Mot Phong ". However, on February 24th, the film unexpectedly surpassed " Nha Ba Toi Mot Phong" to reach second place on the box office chart. From this milestone, the film gradually maintained stable ticket sales and recorded positive revenue growth at the box office.
Since its release, the film has received much positive feedback for its relatable and emotionally rich portrayal of family life. Director Le Thanh Son's work scores points for its construction of everyday situations, combining humor with poignant moments about family bonds. Many viewers believe that " Heaven's Gift" touches the audience's emotions by reflecting on the conflicts and generational gaps within a family, while also conveying a message about understanding and connection. Besides the family story, the film also cleverly incorporates many traditional cultural elements. The work honors the worship of the Whale God by fishermen in coastal areas, and depicts life closely associated with the long-standing fish sauce making craft.
On social media, many viewers left positive comments after enjoying "Heaven's Gift ." Numerous opinions suggested that the film evoked a warm feeling, making it suitable for watching with family during the Lunar New Year. Comments included: "The film is great, for me it's very touching and healing," "The film is cheerful and emotional, so watching it with family during Tet is perfect," "I just watched it, it's very touching," "After watching it, I've decided to take my family to see it again"...
However, alongside the praise, some viewers felt that director Le Thanh Son's work did not fully explore the depth of the family story. Many opinions suggested that the fast pace of the film meant that some conflicts and character psychology did not have enough time to develop, thus diminishing the emotional impact on the viewers. Furthermore, while the integration of elements such as romance, humor, and action added diversity to the work, it was also considered underdeveloped. Some viewers felt that the storylines only served as hints, failing to create strong enough highlights to become the film's standout features.
