Prague ( Czech Republic), August 31: The Czech Republic will offer booster shots from September to those who completed their vaccination at least eight months ago, Health Minister Adam Vojtech announced on Monday.
"Revaccination is set for everyone primarily on the basis of time," Vojtech said. "The option to be revaccinated with a third dose will apply to everyone no earlier than eight months after the end of vaccination. We recommend that risk groups take this opportunity."
Registration for the third dose will begin on Sept. 20, he added.
According to the government's coronavirus task force, boosters are strongly recommended for those over 60 years of age, but all those who have previously been vaccinated will be eligible.
The booster shots will be one of the two available mRNA vaccines: the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines.
The Czech Republic, with a population of 10.7 million, has administered 11,423,278 vaccine doses as of Sunday, with 5,690,606 people fully vaccinated with two doses.
